How these numbers are measured
The indicators on this page and on the server pages come from Colitu's own systems; no independent party measures them. How each one is calculated:
- Status
- Every server sends a heartbeat to the control plane every 15 seconds. A server that sent one in the last 3 minutes and reports itself healthy shows as “Online”; one that sends heartbeats but is unhealthy shows as “Degraded”; one in maintenance mode as “Maintenance”; any other as “Offline”.
- Uptime
- The control plane splits a server's heartbeats into 5-minute intervals; an interval with at least one heartbeat counts as “up”, and the percentage is the share of up intervals among all intervals. The window is the last 30 days; for a newer server it starts at its first heartbeat and the value says “since …” (Colitu opened on 12 September 2026). Every interval without a heartbeat counts as down: a server going down, a network problem between the server and the control plane, or the control plane itself being down are not told apart. Maintenance is not excluded. The value shows that the server could reach the control plane, not that it could be reached from your network. With less than one hour of data it shows “—”.
- Load
- Whichever is higher: the CPU use the server reported in its latest heartbeat of the last 10 minutes, or its active sessions as a share of the server's capacity. 50 % and above shows as “Medium load”, 80 % and above as “Busy”. Bandwidth is not taken into account.
- Estimated ping
- Ping values on the site are estimates, not measurements. Your rough location is taken from your browser's time zone setting; the straight-line distance to the server's city is multiplied by 1.5, turned into a round trip at the speed of light in fibre (about 200 km/ms), and 4 ms are added. Your IP address and location permission are not used. Real latency depends on your network and route; the app measures it itself when it connects.
- System status page
- The checks on status.colitu.com run from our web server and the page refreshes every minute, so they cannot see problems between your network and ours. What each service is checked with is written on that page.
